How to Make a Firefly Lantern from a Mason Jar

Channel the memories of summer by making these lovely decorations.

  1. Clean a mason jar.





  2. Get a a set of LED Christmas lights. LED lights are safe to use because they don't heat up too much.





  3. Put some fake grass or moss in the jar.





  4. Place the Christmas lights into the jar.





  5. Stuff more fake grass into the Mason jar.





  6. Get a stick and arrange the lights in place.





  7. Make a holder out of a old bed spring. Simply cut the bottom part.





  8. Paint it if you like.





  9. Apply the lid, leaving the plug outside. Wrap the handle around the neck of the jar.





  10. Hang your firefly lantern outside your house. Make sure you place it away from any moisture.





  11. Plug the light in and marvel on your fireflies!
