How to Fix a Broken Vacuum Cleaner Nozzle Connector

6/14/2014

If you need to fix the sliding, tabbed plastic ring that holds and pivots a vacuum cleaner's nozzle tool, you've come to the right place. Clearly such tiny, flimsy spares are not sold separately and people are expected to replace an otherwise perfectly functional nozzle tool. No longer!

EditSteps

  1. Identify the problem. Sliding, tabbed plastic rings are common and break very easily.

  2. Find a strong cable tie that is the same width as the broken plastic ring. Pass the pointed end of the cable through one of the holes of the outer fitting.

  3. Wrap the cable tie tightly along the groove, passing the pointed end out through the same hole.

  4. Fiddle and maneuver the cable tie until the unit fits correctly with the cable tie replacing the broken plastic ring.

  5. Secure the cable tie. Pull it through tightly and trim off the excess length.

EditTips

  • Even if yours ends up back-to-front (like this one), it still does the job wonderfully!
