1/09/2014

This is a fast and easy recipe which can be used as a light lunch throughout the day or as a great addition to a main meal.

Edit Ingredients

  • 3 large sweet potatoes

  • 5 tablespoons butter

Edit Steps

  1. Peel the sweet potatoes with a conventional potato peeler. They can also be peeled using a sharp knife.

  2. Cut the potatoes into thirds.

  3. Fill your steamer with water and preheat to boiling. There should be a lot of steam being produced.

  4. Place your sweet potatoes into the steamer.

  5. Depending on how big the sweet potato pieces are, cooking times will vary from 15-20 minutes.

  6. You can check if the sweet potatoes are ready at any stage by using a fork to prod the potatoes. If the fork slides in easily, it is cooked. If the sweet potatoes still feel hard, cook for another 5 minutes.

  7. When you are sure they are cooked, remove from the steamer and cut on a plate. Add butter while hot so the butter will melt.

  8. Serve and enjoy! (Serves 2 people)

Edit Tips

  • In order to add more flavor, you can add other seasonings to the potatoes after it is cooked. However, if you add too many other seasonings, you will lose the delicious sweet flavor of the potato.
